‘The recent agreement’: David Ornstein drops update on Man City’s dream of 21y/o ‘outstanding talent’
Josko Gvardiol has long been linked to a transfer to Manchester City.
The Croatian international is City’s number one central defender target this summer, as the club believes he has the ability to become one of the greatest.
Gvardiol has significantly impressed with RB Leipzig in recent times.
Therefore, regardless of how effective City’s defense has been in recent months, there is a strong desire to sign him.
Many, however, feel as though nothing is really happening at the moment.
David Ornstein, a reporter for the Athletic, provided an encouraging update last night for those who were growing impatient.
David Ornstein provides a positive update on Josko Gvardiol
The Athletic’s Twitter account published a video clip of Ornstein responding to a query about City’s pursuit of Gvardiol last night.
The query posed was, “Are the Gvardiol to City connections decelerating?”
Ornstein responded, “Man City’s primary target is Gvardiol. Even though there has been a lot of news in recent days, it has not calmed down. According to reports, Leipzig desires €100 million (£85 million), while City is eager to negotiate a lower price. Therefore, discussions will be continuous, as such matters typically require time.
“Remember that City is quite rigorous with their valuations. They have never been hesitant to abandon deals if the figures don’t add up.
“It is also conceivable that City will need to move someone out prior to Gvardiol’s arrival. Aymeric Laporte is an illustration.
However, the current industry consensus is that it will be completed.
Fabrizio Romano, a journalist, reported on Sunday that the two clubs would conduct additional negotiations this week.
Gvardiol requires perseverance
Ornstein’s comments indicate that City have a strong possibility of signing Gvardiol, though it is not a foregone conclusion.

There is currently no agreement with Leipzig. The likelihood is that City will attempt to acquire him for a price below the asking price.
There may also be labor involved in determining how the fee will be paid.
However, throughout this discussion, no other organizations have been specifically mentioned.
This is a positive sign, and hopefully City will soon be able to finalize this transaction for a player described by Croatian legend Ivica Olic as possessing “extraordinary talent.”
