Transfer buzz: £30m Arsenal transfer hits roadblock; Inter secure ‘deal is still on’ for top Man Utd target

ARSENAL EXIT STRIKES BLOCKAGE
Arsenal’s proposed sale of Nuno Tavares to Nottingham Forest has become convoluted, per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The former Portugal Under-21 international struggled to make a positive influence in his first season at the Emirates Stadium following his July 2021 transfer from Benfica.

Last season, Mikel Arteta subsequently loaned the left-back to French club Marseille, where he scored six goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Olympiques.

And now he may leave Arsenal again before the deadline, but this time for good, as Nottingham Forest is interested in signing the Portuguese defender.

Forest are reportedly willing to pay approximately £30 million for Tavares, who is open to joining the east Midlands club before the transfer window closes.

Romano contends that the deal is “becoming more complicated” as Tavares will have “other options” this summer.

Romano tweeted, “Understand negotiations between Nottingham Forest and Arsenal for Nuno Tavares are difficult — deal becoming complicated at this stage #NFFC.” There are now alternative options for Nuno.”

INTER CONFIRM DEALINGS CONTINUE Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe
Marotta has verified that “discussions are ongoing” regarding a potential deal for Manchester United’s top transfer target Benjamin Pavard.

Pavard is rumored to be Erik ten Hag’s top target if Harry Maguire departs Old Trafford this summer, as the France international is expected to leave Bayern Munich before the transfer window closes.

Yesterday, the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reported that Manchester United informed Bayern that they have €40 million available for a transfer this summer.

It is believed that this complicates matters for Inter Milan, as the Serie A heavyweights were unwilling to pay €40 million for the center-back.

With no indication that Manchester United will sell Maguire after a £30 million deal with West Ham fell through, the Red Devils may be forced to observe as Inter acquires their top priority.

Inter CEO Marotta has verified that a deal is in place, but that a transfer cannot be finalized until Bayern Munich finds a replacement.

Saturday, Marotta remarked, “Pavard? Move on. We continue to negotiate with Bayern. Player’s motivation is crucial, and he desires to join Inter. Bayern must find a replacement for him before he can depart; this is the issue. But discussions continue.”
