Transfer Deadline Day: 8 possible Chelsea signings and 3 players who could exit

Transfer Deadline Day: 8 possible Chelsea signings and 3 players who could exit

On the final day of the transfer window, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to pursue both last-minute signings and a few departures.

As Todd Boehly’s tenure began last summer, the Stamford Bridge club was the Premier League’s largest spender. Chelsea spent £278,5 million on signings and again led the way in January with an additional £323,5 million. However, they completed the season in last place.

To address their dismal season, Chelsea recruited Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager and made a number of transfers.

Despite the fact that the deadline has arrived, the Argentine is still purchasing.

Premier League teams have until 1 September at 23:00 BST to make their final signings on transfer deadline day, despite the possibility that a few Chelsea players will leave before the window closes.

After Chelsea’s winless start to the season, Pochettino is likely to use every available moment to bolster his team. Last weekend, they defeated Luton Town by a score of three goals.

Two goals scored by a revitalized Raheem Sterling led the Blues to victory against the Hatters.

Both summer acquisitions Nicolas Jackson and Axel Disasi have scored a goal. Yet Chelsea remains active on the transfer market until the transfer deadline…

Chelsea will likely be very active on transfer deadline day, as Pochettino has urged the west London club to make additional acquisitions.

The Times claims the Blues could even target Arsenal, their rivals in north London, for Emile Smith Rowe. Initial discussions have also already taken place.

Stamford Bridge officials have reached out to their superiors at Emirates Stadium to inquire about the 23-year-old’s status.

Smith Rowe is frustrated at Arsenal because Mikel Arteta has not used him in the Premier League this season. And Arsenal will consider offers for the midfielder.

Pochettino is also a fan of Lyon forward Rayan Cherki, but according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is not actively pursuing the 20-year-old.

The Blues admire the talent of France U21, having scored 14 goals and created 16 in 105 professional encounters. Additionally, he can operate across the midfield line.

According to Simon Phillips, Marcus Edwards of Sporting Lisbon is another forward on Chelsea’s transfer radar for the transfer deadline.

Pochettino is adamant that the Blues require an additional option up front. Since January 2022, Edwards has 15 goals and 17 assists in 68 appearances with the Leoes.

According to Phillips, Chelsea are also preparing a deal to acquire Ivan Toney from Brentford.

The Blues want to “jump the line” and sign the forward before his FA-imposed suspension for wagering violations expires. However, Toney cannot be signed until January.

Pochettino is receptive to Chelsea pursuing Barcelona forward Ferran Torres on the transfer deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues could bank on the Spaniard functioning as a backup option at Camp Nou. Since joining Barcelona, he has scored 16 goals in 73 matches.

On transfer deadline day, Chelsea executives are also contemplating a transfer for Middlesbrough’s Finn Cartwright.

The Blues believe the 16-year-old has enormous potential after he became Boro’s second-youngest first-team member this month, according to TEAMtalk.

According to Foot Mercato, negotiations are also ongoing with Portimonense regarding a transfer deadline day move for Filipe Relvas. The Blues have discussed the 23-year-old defender with the Primeira Liga club.

Monaco is interested in his services despite the fact he would cost less than €10 million (£8.5 million).

Ben Jacobs reports that Joao Felix is’very intrigued’ in re-joining Chelsea before the transfer deadline.

The Atletico Madrid forward would like to return to Chelsea after spending last season there on loan. However, Pochettino is not pressuring Chelsea to acquire Felix ahead of his other targets.

On the final day of the season, the entrance to Chelsea’s Cobham training facility will likely be much livelier than the exit.

While Pochettino is pressuring the Blues to complete some last-minute deals to bolster his squad, few players are likely to accept last-minute offers to depart the west London club.

Trevoh Chalobah, who according to the Evening Standard is of interest to Bayern Munich, could depart the club.

Thomas Tuchel, the former manager of Chelsea, is steering the Bavarian pursuit after a loan offer failed. The Blues are seeking £50 million for Chalobah, who is eager to join Bayern Munich.

One year after relocating to west London, Marc Cucurella may also be leaving.

According to Marca, the left-back is a transfer deadline target for Manchester United. Erik ten Hag targeted the Spaniard following the injury to Luke Shaw. Cucurella will also be pleased with the transfer.

Conor Gallagher, a graduate of the academy, is also unemployed as of the application deadline.

However, according to the Daily Mail, members of Chelsea’s academy personnel are urging the club not to sell the 23-year-old. They view the England international as a significant indicator of their path to the first team.
