Wayne Rooney names the most impressive Arsenal player this season

Bukayo Saka is the Arsenal player who has impressed Wayne Rooney the most this season, according to Wayne Rooney, who was stunned that he took the penalty against West Ham.

Rooney was speaking with The Times about the latest development in the Premier League title race, which occurred on Friday night when Arsenal relinquished points for the third consecutive game by drawing with Southampton.

It was an agonizing outcome for Arsenal supporters. In addition, this opens the door marginally wider for Manchester City.

Wayne Rooney lauds Bukayo Saka

It would be catastrophic for Arsenal to lose the championship at this point. So many of their athletes have excelled throughout the entire season.

And perhaps no one has ever been superior to Bukayo Saka.

Saka was the first player in the Premier League this season to record ten goals and ten assists. On Friday against the Saints, he tallied one and assisted another.

After the previous game, the 21-year-old player issued an apology, which was an outstanding response. Saka missed his penalty kick as Arsenal had the opportunity to go up 3-1 on West Ham.

Rooney implied that he was surprised when Saka took the penalty attempt. However, he insisted that should not detract from how well the youngster has performed throughout the season.

“Saka has most astounded me. This season, he has 13 goals and 11 assists despite being only 21 years old. “That’s a great output for a young player playing wide,” he told The Times.

“We witnessed him, Emile Smith-Rowe, and a few others emerge from Arsenal’s academy at the same time, and he’s the only one who has consistently been able to handle the pressure and perform. He is currently Arsenal’s finest player.

“When he missed the penalty against West Ham, I was astonished he took it — I thought Jesus should have taken it — but after missing a penalty in the Euro 2020 final shootout, he has demonstrated his character. I have no doubt that he will mentally recoup from this setback.”

Gunners will hope for one more turn in the road.

If Arsenal retain Saka for the next decade, it is difficult to imagine that their current title drought will not end at some point.

Saka is destined for the pinnacle of the sport. Recent reports indicate that he is currently worth £96 million. And if Arsenal can retain players like the winger happy, they will undoubtedly be in an excellent position.

Arsenal appears to be an underdog to capture the championship this season. With individuals like Saka in their ranks, however, Mikel Arteta’s squad cannot be counted out of ensuring a final twist.
