What Lukaku’s lawyer suggested about €40m orders

It has been common knowledge for a considerable amount of time that he intends to quit Chelsea and go back to his former club, Inter Milan. That has served as the foundation for the conversations that have taken place over the past few months and are still ongoing today.

According to the most recent report from La Gazzetta, Lukaku’s attorney Sebastian Ledure (the striker does not work with an agent) has been in contact with Chelsea by phone today, warning them that their asking price of €40 million – which has already been dropped from the €45 million they were asking for in June – is excessive for Inter and is not flexible enough to accommodate their needs.

That makes perfect sense; under normal conditions, the Blues would be free to abandon the deal and look for a new purchaser. But Lukaku is solely interested in moving to Inter, and the story adds that he will stand “shoulder to shoulder” with the club against Chelsea’s demands if he is given the opportunity.

The Blues are doing everything they can to avoid Lukaku having to attend preseason for another year, so they have given him an extra week off from work and prolonged his vacation by one week. However, it’s possible that their patience has a limit.
