What Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag said after a narrow Bournemouth victory
Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Bournemouth prompted Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag to comment. Casemiro scored the game’s only goal at the Vitality Stadium to give the Red Devils the win.
And the result puts them on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League next season, after missing the competition this year.
United exerted great effort to defeat Bournemouth.
Casemiro’s acrobatic goal in the ninth minute was sufficient for the visitors to secure all three points.
However, the Red Devils were unable to add to their total. David De Gea was instrumental in keeping Bournemouth at bay, as the Spaniard made two crucial saves.
Now, after the game, Ten Hag has criticized his team’s inability to widen the distance between them and their opponents.
However, he was also pleased to commend De Gea, defending the 32-year-old and stating that he is pleased with the veteran’s response to his error against West Ham earlier this month.
“The only criticism I have is that we didn’t win,” said the 53-year-old.
“We needed to score a second goal, but that’s how this team operates. It is difficult to score goals.
“Casemiro scored an excellent strike. In the initial quarter-hour, we penned them down and denied them air.

A few weeks ago, David de Gea made a mistake, but everyone makes errors.
“Because we defend with 11 men, we have so many clear sheets. David made some amazing saves.”
He continued, “Bournemouth were already safe and a good opponent, but we started well and created a lot of opportunities; I am extremely pleased with the performance.”
“Casemiro scored a magnificent goal with a superb finish. At 1-0, I was anxious because it is easy to make an error and concede a goal. We needed to win the match.
“We are close – in the top four – but not quite there. We must triumph.”
Ten Hag was speaking after Liverpool drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp’s squad relinquished two points.
United are now one point away from securing their position in the top four.
