Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, has scored more than 40 goals in all competitions in the current 2022-23 season.
The young goal scorer, who is only 22 years old, has had a smooth adjustment to life in the Premier League, where one former player has already dubbed him the “best player in the world.”
Wayne Rooney, who formerly played for Manchester United, was quite impressed with Haaland’s performance this season as a striker.
Rooney acknowledges that despite his respect for Messi, the City star is now the best player in football based on how he is doing, despite the fact that it has only been one season.
Rooney was quoted in The Times as saying that Erling Haaland is the best footballer in the world at the moment.

Because of the stats he’s putting up, the performances he’s putting in, and the mentality he shows, he’s the best in the world.
Messi recently brought home the trophy for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The fact that Rooney has made this remark, despite the fact that Haaland and City are in contention to win the Premier League title, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League trophy, should not come as a surprise.
On the other hand, if Haaland and City don’t win any trophies this year, notably the league championship and the Champions League, which are the two most important competitions for the club, it might be premature to talk about their future.
