Why Raheem Sterling will NOT be called up to the England squad despite Jack Grealish’s withdrawal due to injury.

Despite the fact that Jack Grealish has withdrawn from the most recent international party, Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling is not expected to be included in the England group anytime soon.

Both Manchester City striker Grealish and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold have withdrawn from the England squad that will play Ukraine in a Euro 2024 qualifying match on Saturday and Scotland in a prestige friendly in Glasgow on next Tuesday. Grealish is sidelined with a thigh injury, and Alexander-Arnold has a hamstring injury.

Following the forward’s shocking absence from the initial party that Gareth Southgate selected a month ago, the withdrawals appeared to open the door for Sterling to be recruited back into the party that will be selected by Southgate.

The 28-year-old player has not been included in any England squad since the conclusion of the World Cup. He did not participate in the March training camp due to an injury and did not play in any of England’s summer games as part of an agreement with Southgate to concentrate on healing for the upcoming season.

On the other hand, the Football Association (FA) verified on Monday evening that Southgate is not anticipated to call up replacements for Grealish or Alexander-Arnold.

Last week, Southgate revealed that Sterling had a difficult time processing the news of his omission, and the fact that he is still being left on the bench is the most recent development in this saga.

Both Grealish and Alexander-Arnold were part of the England squad that showed up at St. George’s Park on Monday along with the rest of the players.
Prior to their departure, they were examined by medical professionals from England.

Except for Kieran Trippier, who has a personal obligation that prevents him from reporting until Wednesday, all of the other players have already done so as planned.
