While Arsenal remains focused on their pursuit of the Premier League title in the remaining matches of the 2023/24 season, their attention is gradually shifting towards summer transfers.

Despite demonstrating their potential as title contenders this season, the fierce competition in the current three-way battle implies that victory is far from guaranteed, especially on the 20th anniversary of their legendary Invincibles triumph.

Regardless of the outcome, Mikel Arteta is keen on enhancing all aspects of the squad. In this regard, Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad continues to be a target of interest for the North London club.

Arsenal remains interested in Zubimendi. Despite the midfielder having a release clause with Real Sociedad, Fabrizio Romano, speaking to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing, indicates that Zubimendi is currently content to remain with his current club.

According to Romano, “Martin Zubimendi is still very happy at Real Sociedad. He has a strong affection for the club, the city, and the fans. There are no issues.”

Romano also suggests that while Zubimendi may consider a move if his release clause is triggered, the decision ultimately lies with the player. Arsenal and Bayern Munich are reportedly among the clubs interested, with Bayern’s interest contingent on factors such as the appointment of a new coach.

“So, let’s observe the developments during the summer, but Zubimendi isn’t actively seeking to depart. However, should any offers arise, he will contemplate his options.”

Previously, there was speculation about Barcelona as a potential destination for Zubimendi. However, it seems Arsenal, who are in a stronger financial position, may have reached a similar conclusion regarding potential transfers.”

Zubimendi’s dedication to his club is commendable. In an era focused on quick wealth accumulation, the 25-year-old has consistently resisted the allure of moving elsewhere. If he remains in San Sebastian for another summer, he could potentially become a rarity in modern football—a one-club man for La Real.

The decision largely hinges on his current club’s perspective. Despite not actively seeking attention from Europe’s top clubs, a significant cash injection of €50 million or more into their coffers would undoubtedly bolster their ability to strengthen the squad in other areas.
