Liverpool coming manager may be at Anfield this weekend.

Robert De Zerbi should be aware that all eyes will be on him. It’s not just the Brighton supporters in the Anfield Road Stand who will be scrutinizing his every move. With 60,000 Kopites watching, his tactics, substitutions, and touchline demeanor will be under close observation.

Despite any attempts to downplay it, when Brighton faces Liverpool on Sunday, it could be seen as an opportunity for De Zerbi to showcase his potential as a successor to Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

De Zerbi is being considered for the role of Liverpool’s next manager post-Klopp era. During his tenure at Brighton, he achieved notable feats including a record sixth-place finish, securing Europa League qualification, and reaching the FA Cup semi-finals.

His team has even defeated Liverpool twice, as well as other top clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea, all while playing an attractive style of football.

While Xabi Alonso was previously considered a frontrunner, it seems he may stay at Bayer Leverkusen as they near a potential Bundesliga title. Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is also highly regarded, but De Zerbi remains a contender for the Liverpool job.

If De Zerbi were to take on the role, there’s speculation about the possibility of him bringing in someone familiar with Liverpool’s inner workings—a figure held in high regard for his standards and even honored with his own door at the AXA Training Ground.

The brilliance of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino will be vividly remembered as Liverpool returned to the top tier of European football under Klopp’s leadership.

Jordan Henderson’s lifting of six trophies will also be etched into the memories of fans. Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, and others may also receive praise. However, Milner’s contributions will never fade from memory.

Some were skeptical when Milner arrived from Manchester City in 2015, set to earn £150,000 per week. Yet, it turned out to be one of the most impactful free transfers in Liverpool’s history.

Milner was already at the club when Klopp took charge and quickly became an indispensable figure in the dressing room, playing a crucial role in the club’s rebuilding process.

Whether deployed in midfield or at full-back, his performances were consistently marked by commitment and a fierce determination to win.

Despite being 37, Klopp wished for Milner to stay for a ninth season at Anfield. However, this desire was overruled.

“I still want to contribute to a team. You should play as long as you can, hopefully I can do it for a bit longer yet,” Milner commented after his departure. “The club obviously made their decision on that. It’s nice I’m in a position where the manager wanted me to stay, but it got to the point where I got to terms [with it].”
