‘Due to Euro 2024 worries,’ Harry Maguire may have to leave Man United.

Harry Maguire is reportedly concerned that he will have to quit Manchester United this summer to maintain his starting position for England at Euro 2024.
The captain of the Red Devils has fallen in the pecking order at Old Trafford, with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez establishing an impressive partnership in the center of the defense.

Recent injuries to Varane and Martinez have increased Maguire’s playing time, but he missed the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton & Hove Albion and Thursday’s Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur due to suspension and injury, respectively.

Maguire returned to the squad for Sunday’s match against Aston Villa, but he was only on the substitute. Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof started in the middle of the defense once again.

The 30-year-old is currently Man United’s fifth-choice central defender, and he has been extensively linked with a summer transfer away from Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Mail, Maguire desires to remain at Manchester United and compete for his starting position, but he fears that a lack of action could cost him a starting position at Euro 2024, should England qualify.

Gareth Southgate has continued to back the former Sheffield United adolescent, but it will be difficult for him to make his Three Lions debut next summer if he struggles for action again next season.

According to the report, West Ham United, Inter Milan, and Roma were all interested in Maguire in January, and the three clubs could renew their pursuit when the summer transfer window opens.

Man United are not believed to be actively seeking to transfer him at this time, but the club is rumored to be interested in adding another central defender, which would likely result in his departure.

Leicester City is also rumored to be interested in their former player, but he must be willing to take a pay cut from his current £190,000 per week salary in order to depart.

During the 2022-23 season, the defender has made 28 appearances for the Red Devils, with only 13 coming in the Premier League.

Martinez is expected to be healthy for the start of next season, and Varane could return for the FA Cup final at the beginning of June, so Maguire’s return to the starting XI is uncertain moving forward.

In the summer of 2019, the Englishman made a significant transfer from Leicester to Old Trafford, where he has appeared 172 times, netting seven goals and registering five assists.

Maguire’s current contract with the twenty-time English champions expires in June 2025.
