April 23 – Mohamed Salah equaled Robbie Fowler’s 183 goals in fewer than six seasons when he scored the game-winning goal against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

Fowler’s 183 goals were scored over the course of 11 seasons and two stints with Liverpool.

Last month, the 30-year-old Egyptian forward superseded Fowler to become Liverpool’s all-time Premier League leading scorer with 134 goals, and he is also the league’s all-time leader in left-footed goals with 108.

Salah and Fowler are three goals behind Steven Gerrard, the fifth-highest scorer in Liverpool’s history. Ian Rush holds the record with 346 goals.

“The sixth Liverpool leading scorer? It is favorable to reach this number in fewer than six years.

Fowler is a club institution, so I’m pleased to be tied with him after six seasons. Salah told beIN Sports, “I hope to score more goals and break more records.”

Although he is not having his finest season, the three-time Premier League leading scorer has scored 16 goals in the league, trailing only Erling Haaland of Manchester City (32), Harry Kane of Tottenham (23), and Ivan Toney of Brentford (19).

Salah remarked that seventh-placed Liverpool labored early in the 3-2 victory over relegation-threatened Forest.

“During the first 15 to 20 minutes of the game, we encountered difficulty. Thank God, we were able to prevail and achieve a favorable outcome… Our focus was not on who scored; the outcome is what matters.

“For the teams fighting to avoid relegation, these are life-or-death games, and all games are difficult,” he added.

Liverpool is six points behind the top four with seven games remaining and still hopes to qualify for next season’s European competitions.
